The weekend of May 28-29th was very busy, but I had a blast and I really want to share it with you!
I went to Lethbridge to find dresses for nationals, and when I got there, Angeline McDonald arranged for me to make an appearance at the first annual Jumpstart Canadian Tire Car Show! I got to make a short speech about myself and the pageant in front of everyone, as well as hand out the prizes personally! (Side note: this was my first public appearance with both my crown and sash!) Everyone there was so friendly, and I really enjoyed walking around and talking to those who attended. There were some absolutely gorgeous cars, motorcycles, and trucks there; it gave me ideas for paint jobs I can do when I get my first car!
I want to share a very special story I got to hear from one of the winners of the car show.
His name was Lawrence, and he had entered with a beautiful purple truck from the early 20th century. He shared with me that he had finished remodeling the truck in memory of his son, who started working on the truck with him years before. His son was diagnosed with cancer when he was six, and given one week to live, but he miraculously lived another 20 years before passing away. This story brought tears to my eyes, and I knew I had to get a photo with him to remember this touching story. I am so happy that he was able to win one of the prizes and dedicate it to his son.
I am so grateful that I got to meet this sweet man and listen to him; I wouldn’t be able to hear stories like his without making appearances and interacting with people!
That was just one of the many amazing moments I had that weekend, and I look forward to many more in the future!
Until next time my lovelies,
